In the gritty neglected suburbs of western Melbourne, a group of disillusioned youths navigate the harsh realities of their bleak existence. “Psycho” Joe (Young) is an awkward misfit steeped in solitude and isolation, until he starts a new job at a local supermarket. Here he meets local Don Juan, the charming and irresponsible Dazey (Mendelsohn), Dazey’s beautiful and traumatised girlfriend Robyn (Nadine Garner) and Dazey-obsessed satanist Savina (Tara Morice, Strictly Ballroom).
