Step into the eerie and extraordinary with KIWI KULT Volume 1: INTO THE DARK, a chilling trilogy of New Zealand cinema. THE IRREFUTABLE TRUTH ABOUT DEMONS (2000) delves into a psychological descent where ancient cults and reality blur. PERFECT CREATURE (2007) reimagines a gothic world where vampires protect humanity—but at a haunting cost. Finally, UNDER THE MOUNTAIN (2009) unveils a secret war between powerful telepaths and subterranean monsters beneath Auckland’s volcanic landscape. United by supernatural dread and bold storytelling, this collection celebrates New Zealand’s unique contribution to the darker side of fantasy and horror.

    THE IRREFUTABLE TRUTH ABOUT DEMONS

In the place between what you know, and what you fear, demons rule. Anthropology professor Harry Ballard (Karl Urban, The Boys) specializes in debunking occult phenomena. His life takes a dark turn when he receives a disturbing videotape featuring a cult known as the Black Lodge, which claims to reveal a demonic conspiracy. This discovery leads Harry to investigate further, uncovering unsettling truths that challenge his understanding of reality.

    PERFECT CREATURE

Set during the 1960s in an alternate New Zealand known as Nuovo Zelandia, PERFECT CREATURE imagines a world where vampires and humans peacefully coexist. This delicate balance looks to be destroyed when an epidemic begins to sweep the human population and one vampire begins to challenge the established order. The church sends out Silus (Dougray Scott) to catch the renegade vampire, Edgar (Leo Gregory). Silus joins forces with a human police captain, and discovers that Edgar harbors dark secrets. PERFECT CREATURE is a deliciously gothic atmospheric thriller, building tension as vampires and humans face a catastrophe that could tear their world apart.

    UNDER THE MOUNTAIN

NEW DIRECTOR APPROVED GRADE. Discover the sci-fi adventure UNDER THE MOUNTAIN, a New Zealand Lovecraftian tale of epic proportions. When teenage twins Rachel and Theo Matheson investigate the creepy old house next door, they discover the Wilberforces – shape-shifting creatures that lurk beneath Auckland’s ring of extinct volcanoes. Guided by the mysterious Mr. Jones and with the help of their older cousin Ricky, the twins must rekindle the unique powers they once shared if they are to destroy this ancient evil – before it destroys them. Featuring villains created from practical effects legends Weta Workshop, and Aotearoa icons Sam Neill (The Piano, Jurassic Park), Nathaniel Lees, Madeleine Sami and Matthew Sunderland, UNDER THE MOUNTAIN adapts Maurice Gee’s classic novel of supernatural forces.

    Director: Glenn Standring, Jonathan King

Cast: Sam Neill, Dougray Scott, Karl Urban, Katie Wolfe, Oliver Driver
