Description
When fifteen years as a bank clerk proves enough for Wilbert Winkle (Edward G. Robinson), over his wife, Amy’s (Ruth Warrick), objections, he quits to open a fix-it shop in his garage. Before long, Amy’s browbeating causes Wilbert to question his decision. So, when his draft notice arrives, despite his forty-four years, Wilbert passes the physical and is promptly inducted into the Army. Sent to the South Pacific, he distinguishes himself in combat by repairing a bulldozer that he uses to single-handedly wipe out a nest of enemy soldiers. And though he’s given an honourable discharge and a hero’s welcome at home, all Wilbert wants is to be back in his shop with his now-adoring wife.
